Amorphous alloy transformers are a type of low-loss, high-efficiency power transformer. These transformers use iron-based amorphous metal as the core material. Since this material lacks a long-range ordered structure, its magnetization and demagnetization processes are easier compared to conventional magnetic materials. As a result, the core loss (i.e., no-load loss) of amorphous alloy transformers is 70–80% lower than that of traditional transformers using silicon steel cores. Due to the reduction in energy loss, power generation requirements are correspondingly reduced, leading to a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions such as carbon dioxide. Driven by energy supply and environmental considerations, amorphous alloy transformers have been widely adopted in large developing countries like China.
